Ireland

irelandWe do not lack bad news in Ireland, or anywhere in the world for that matter.  Good news is seldom heard, anywhere as well.  Let’s try changing that ... not tomorrow, but now, and here, yes in Ireland.

In this section, we will post one new piece of good news each day. Today we start with this ... the women migrant domestic workers in Ireland.

From the name you would think, ah that’s bad news too.  Hey, wait ... This is good news with a twist. Give me a chance to prove this statement right.  Go and visit the website pages entitled: “MIGRANT DOMESTIC WORKERS SPEAK THROUGH ART” in www.mrci.ie/activities/opening_doors/  and it is plain to see that the way this group expresses pain through art is something really admirable, worth promoting and emulating.  It gives me hope, what about you?

Here are the opening lines of their project’s website pages ...

"In response to the growing reports of difficulties experienced by migrant workers and care workers, MRCI documented their experiences in Private Homes, a Public Concern and established the Domestic Workers Support Group (DWSG) ... which is made up of migrant women employed in the private home as carers and childminders who also have responsibility for cleaning and housekeeping...”
